It has been noted that in approximately June of a given year, olives begin to appear on an olive tree. Before an olive appears, an olive flower becomes present (usually at the end of April / beginning of May). About 2% of all olive flowers on an olive tree become olives that can be harvest.
By October, many olives have reached a maturity where they can be harvested (when harvesting occurs in October, it’s is considered an Early Harvest)
Olive growers that have noted when their olives appear:
- Almazara La Alquería (Muro de Alcoy, Alicante, Spain) – Olives in June (flowers in May)
- Miñarro Sánchez Family Orchard (Lorca, Murcia, Spain) – Flowers in May
